It ticks all the boxes except for Sci-Fi. While i haven't played it much, another game I can think of is Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, which is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, so if you don't have a switch and aren't willing to emulate then isn't an option. But it's still an XCOM game, so be prepared to deal with consequences of poor play beyond failing the level and 'losing X% of currency'. But it's still an XCOM game, so be prepared to deal with consequences of poor play beyond what happens in the mission.Īs an XCOM game, it has aiming determined by percentages, which as you can tell can be rather irritating at times, as the person above complained about. The only XCOM game that has similarity to SW: Heist beyond it being turn based is Chimera Squad, which instead of having randomly generated soldiers like in previous XCOM titles, CS has characters with personality, and there is no permadeath, but the game does reach a failstate and force you to load to a previous point if a character dies, however characters enter a 'bleedout' state if they hit 0 health so you have time to stabilize them before they die. SW: Heist, unlike other turn based tactics games, swaps out of a little bit of the tactical aspects of turn based tactics games for a bit of mechanical skill, and i have yet to see a game which has a similar system, while i believe there are some games that have shots hit 100% of the time, most of the genre use percentages to determine shots, as XCOM is basically the blueprint for all modern TBT games, and XCOM used percentages. Side view, this isn't really that big of a deal.Ģ. SW: Heist is rather unique for the genre because of two things:ġ. I personally think the two people who think XCOM games are trash have trash opinions, but they are correct that the similarities basically end at it being turn based. Before anyone calls me bad I beat XCOM 2 at the 2nd highest difficulty, that game is not hard just insanely unfair. if there were ever a vote to be cast for steamheist 2 sign me up yeah I gotta agree XCOM is trash compared to Heist, XCOM 2 was super buggy and crashed constantly for me, not to mention the XCOM game are total bs with the aiming "45% hit chance". am still saying this is the best turn based game i have ever played. another side rant- i tried pit people recently hoping itd be like steamheist- vastly different vastly disappointing. and trust me if i had the 2 bux (if its still on sale) for Fen, id already have em. i made a seperate post about it, please be kind. if anyone wants to chip in for the outsider dlc for me thatd be rad, i will wait patiently. Sir- if you go to xcom thinking you will get anything like this awesome game be prepared to be let down.
